Coal Dust Art and Writing

Eleventh 30 Minute Entry

Date Finished: November 23, 2024

When I decided to go back to digital for this one, I had a feeling I would be a bit slower. It turned out that intuition was right. I tend to be a bit slower on the digital side. I barely started shading before the timer went off and I don't like how that mechanical arm looked. When I was in the sketch phase, I realized that the mechanical arm was probably not the best move. Not only would it look better if I did a regular arm, or a different mechanical arm altogether, but mechanical stuff takes a bit of time. I skipped a thing or two in order to keep pace as well. Pose is decent, but the regular arm, the one that is a bit further out, looks a bit funky to me personally.

So, what can I learn from this? For starters, it might be best to focus on the more organic stuff for this challenge. I can work on the technical stuff on the side. Second would be the brushes. I need to find thick ink brushes or mess with the settings to get what I need. A small, medium, and large ink brush if you will. A split second panic decision that surprised me at the last moment was how I used the bucket tool. I just closed off an area and threw the bucket tool there. That's how I was able to shade a few areas quickly. While I don't consider this drawing a success, I did learn a few things from this one.
