Coal Dust Art and Writing

Fifth 30 Minute Entry

Date Finished: November 17, 2024

With how bad yesterday's artwork went, I took the lessons I learned as well as my hatred towards it to make the next thing better. Which resulted in this. The prompt I had on my list was Hero Forge, which is a good site for coming up with ideas for characters. I made one and used it as one of the references. The other ones was an old man on a cane and a couple screenshots from the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Specifically the guy that made a bridge in like, twelve seconds. While the sketch is technically unfinished and I got nowhere close to the lineart, I feel good about it. Were it not for the timer, I would have taken over two hours with lesser results.

While I normally draw anthro characters, looking at how well this sketch looks makes me want to draw more humans. I've been wanting to develop a cartoonish style for humans for a while. I did it with anthro characters, mechs, so on, but humans usually ended up looking a bit off to me. They looked alright, but not something I wanted. This feels like the step in the right direction.

This is also the first prompt I've done in which I want to take it and finish it all the way. I think what I might do is take a little side gallery of the finished results of the prompts that I decided to go further with. That would be a neat thing to see.
